Beaches

Walk along the sandy beaches of Sri Lanka for a relaxed adventure like no other. An island where no two beaches are alike, you will find something new at each beach.

The beaches close to Colombo are a good day trip from the city to get some sand and soak in the sun but there are many beaches around the country that would make a multiple-day visit worthwhile.

A haven for travelers the world-around, Sri Lanka offers offshore reefs, idyllic lagoons, frequent turtle sightings (as well as turtle hatcheries), snorkeling, surfing, whale and dolphin-watching, and many diving sites.

The beaches of Negombo, Unawatuna, and HIkkaduwa are extremely popular with locals and visitors alike for their vibrant life, easy access to the beach, great food, and nearby hotels. Mirissa, Weligama Trincomalee, and Battcaloa are popular with the adventure and experience lovers for their whale watching, surfing, snorkeling, and diving.

If you would like to see some fantastic displays of corals and marine life, Hikkaduwa and Pigeon Island National Park are excellent options.

You can even get in some gentle stretching before surfing with yoga at Kabalana.

Whatever your heart may desire the next time you visit Sri Lanka, rest assured you can find it in this glorious country blessed with amazing natural beauty.
